Originally from small town Saskatchewan, Jason Upton quickly moved beyond these humble roots to the comparatively thriving metropolis of Vancouver. Once there, he invented Helvetica. Since defining the apex of modernist design, he has consistently been on the cusp of such significant cultural movements such as neo-dandyism (ca. 1980), neon (ca. 1985), white furniture (ca. 2000) and the 80s (ca. 2002). He continues to push the boundaries of design in many diverse fields.

Most recently, he has committed himself to the arena of publishing and print design. He rules your soul at this. You’re all like “whoa! Wtf?? Harvard Graphics just crashed AGAIN! How will I ever get my monochromatic pie charts done on time?” and he’s like “uhhhhh InDesign much?” and BAM you totally look like Uffie AND your magazine has won the Palm d’Or at Cannes TWICE because its pages are made entirely of Intel chips and it knows what Joel Schumacher will do even before he even does it!!!!

He devotes himself fully to any endeavor upon which he embarks, and in his veins runs the blood of a pure man, untouched by the vagaries of the peasant world that surrounds him.
